Excellent news. Can't wait to see them popping up around the place.

I wonder what the reaction will be like? Part of me is expecting melodrama, but I might be underestimating the public tolerance for this kind of thing.

There shouldn't BE a reaction of course. This should all be as normal as tea with your granny.

Hmm... We'll see, I guess.

Out of interest, is there a rough ETA on when the billboards will be:
a) Submitted to the advertiser, and
b) Start appearing around the place

Sorry to come over impatient... But I am. ^_^

Love the generator, wish there was a like / dislike button so that good ones could float to the top.

Seems like there is a backlash against Dawkins and 'organised atheists'. Personally, I can't see anything wrong with celebrating rational thought in a group. Going to a concert is a group activity. Listening to a speech is a group activity. Attending a meeting is a group activity. Going to the theatre is a group activity. There are untold group activities. Listening to a speaker in a group makes sense - does Dawkins have time to meet every NZ Atheists one-on-one for an extended period of time? Hardly surprising or shocking for human beings to meet as a group. Going and listening to Dawkins speak may be something you do only once, and it remains just a thing that you have done......you don't do it every Sunday. You don't pray to Dawkins. You don't receive communion from Dawkins. Moreover, there is no supernatural element.
Should atheism be an underground phenomenon? Is that cooler and edgier? Maybe that's the beef that some of those who are 'uncomfortable' have. Ultimately, although people may say that Atheism in any organised form is just about trying to 'convert', that statement is as ridiculous as saying gay people celebrating being gay is an attempt to convert heterosexuals to homosexuality. To extend the analogy, there is often a lot of pressure exerted on one to be religious, and of course it is refreshing to be Atheist, and in company, and not be a community of one.

Before anyone else says it, yes my design is a play on words with regard to Ravi Zacharas's 1996 Book, "Can man live without God?". It pays to read the arguments against Atheism, as with all debates, you can often become really empowered about your own lack of belief when you look at the opposite perspective. And before anyone religious starts suggesting a heap of other books for me to read, I probably already have!

This just gets better! Although I stuffed up my first attempt at a poster with a missing word, so have submitted a second. Anyway, great idea guys and I'm really looking forward to the final versions when they start to go on display!
